AI Invades FinTech at Connect 2024

Artificial intelligence is moving from theoretical discussions to practical applications in the financial sector, a trend highlighted by the upcoming FinTech Connect 2024 event in London. The eleventh annual gathering will bring together more than 2,000 attendees and 100 speakers to examine how AI reshapes banking and payments. Scheduled for December 4 and 5 at the ExCeL exhibition centre, the two-day conference focuses on the intersection of technological innovation and regulatory constraints.

Europe’s Largest Fintech Gathering

The event is organized by FinTech Connect, described as Europe’s only dedicated fintech event for the entire ecosystem. Over the course of two days, participants will engage with industry leaders and innovators from across the sector. The agenda includes over 80 sessions, workshops, start-up showcases, and an exhibition floor featuring demonstrations of cutting-edge technology.

Attendees will find a diverse range of voices, including representatives from HSBC, Starling Bank, Lloyds Banking Group, Bank of Ireland, TUI GROUP, Asos.com, Jaguar Land Rover, Uber, and Bumble. The program is divided into two focused streams: Innovation and Implementation. This structure allows for a detailed examination of new technologies alongside the practical steps required to deploy them at scale.

AI, Fraud, and Regulation

Topics for discussion include the use of advanced AI to enhance consumer banking products, successful partnerships between AI and fintechs, and the impact of generative AI on customer experience. Speakers will also address critical issues such as fraud prevention, digital identity verification, and the tension between rapid innovation and regulatory oversight.

Laurence Coldicott, Senior Content Director at FinTech Connect, noted the growing importance of these conversations. “With the recent growth and transformation of the fintech ecosystem, events such as FinTech Connect are important to help you stay on top of all the action,” he said.

The organizers aim to connect global thought leaders to reflect on and define the industry’s direction. While the event highlights the potential of new tools, a cautious approach is necessary when integrating these technologies. The reliance on advanced algorithms for fraud detection and identity verification introduces new attack vectors that regulators and security teams must constantly assess.

Media representatives receive free entry to the event and can utilize an interactive media room for interviews and briefings. This environment facilitates direct dialogue between the press and industry figures, ensuring accurate reporting on the evolving setting of digital finance.
